What are some tips for hair dying?

like my hair is a brownish black color, and i want the underneath blonde.my friends mom is doing it.would i have to get a light blonde? then keep it in longer than what the box says.i dont know if this helps but my hair is kind of thick.

If you do this at all, you should probably go to a salon (unless your friend's mom is a hairdresser). You have to bleach dark hair to get it to accept light colors or to make it blonde, and salons have the healthiest products to help you do it, but I agree with the previous poster -- it can really mess up your hair, so be careful!

do some test strips on some small pieces of your hair first. leave it on for as long as the box says first. then do another test with leaving it on for longer. u may want to use a timer for this so u can remember how long u left the bleach on for. please read the instructions on the box. if your having doubts about it then go to a professional and have this done.
