Do you have any tips for straightening your hair?

My hair is wavyish, not super curly, but I prefer it straighter. Tips could incluce how often (minimize damage), how to straighten the back, etc. I have a revlon wet-dry straightener.

Thermasilk is great for protection against heat. But also I have the same straightener and I use VO5! Miracle Mist every time before I straighten my hair and I have noticed that it does protect it more, and best of all its not really expensive. And always, always, always section your hair when your straightening it so you get all you hair!!

Use Herbal Esscence Straighnight finishing spray, not too much, or it will make your hair greasy. Also: Sprits some hairspray into your hands and rub over flyaway hairs to keep em down! i too have the same straighner. Do it in sections. Pin half up, straigten it, let the other half down and do it. It looks really good. I do that too all my clients and they love it!

I have the same kind of hair, and the same kind of straightener. I prefer a regular straightener, but you can work with it. For your kind of hair, if you happen to have or find a straightener that has a comb attached to it, it would work a lot better, not because your hair is tangled, but to spread the hair evenly. Oh, and make sure not to rush through it. One slow, steady move down can compare to 9 quick ones. Make sure to really slow down at the tips of your hair. To get the back, just pull your hair over your shoulder. Then, get the hard parts by just looking in the mirror. Simple.

get a spray that protects ur hair from the heat, there's one from tresseme. and make sure ur hair not drenched, at least 80 percent dry. you should separate ur hair in many layers to get ur hair (ALL OF IT), straight.

I have the same issue. Use some sort of straightening serum before you blow dry it, and after you have washed it. I usually only wet/wash my hair twice a week, and do touch ups with a flat iron on a daily basis. I also get my hair colored, so without washing it daily like I use to, the color hasn't faded, and the style has stayed.

always use protective serum. ALWAYS.

dont hold the straightener on one part of hair too long unless you wanna kill it.

glide the straightener quickly from the root to tip continuously.

use it on the lowest temp, it does less damage, although that means you will have to run it over a couple more times. 140 degrees is better than 280.

there's alot of guides on the net that include how to effectively straighten your hair. just google it.

do thin layers and put it on high heat, I do it at 370 so you won't go through the same spot many times, and don't leave on any spot for more than a second, and ALWAYS apply a heat protectant before straightening.. hope I helped

to minimize damage, buy a protective spray.

i use the one from tresemme and it works really well.

to help straighten, buy a straightening spray though.

i wouldnt reccomend a creme though because that will just make your hair moist.

the moister your hair is, the more its going to curl.

then just turn up the heat on the straightener to pretty high.

i know that you dont want to completely fry your hair, but your hair will NEVER get straight if you leave it on the super-low setting. well good luck! (=

Goodness you sound just like me. In hair care that is, if you want your hair to be straight, like 'beach blonde bimbo' *NO OFFENSE to ANYONE!* straight try straightening it in layers. A Chi straightener is your best bet... but start with you bottom layer and go for five or six different layers.

Chi's run kind of 'spensive though. As much as a hundred fifty-ish... All depends on how much time and how frizz-free you want your hair.

I usually use color enhancing conditioners for extra, gauranteed glow. HOWEVER! I put the conditioner in AFTER it's striaght. It doesn't take a whole lot. Just a dime sized amount and run it through. Run a brush through and all done.

It takes a little while to perfect without burning the back of your head, but like most things, practice makes perfect. If you go in layers it'll be straighter for longer.

I don't blow dry my hair and I straighten it every morning before I go to school. I never use a protection spray because I don't blow dry the crap out of my hair. Keep the heat on somewhat high...but never completely high...It takes me twenty - twenty-five minutes to do, but I always get compliments on it!

Good Luck!

Ami
